On Monday 2nd April I captured the #wedding of Shehan and Anna at Coombe Lodge at Blagdon. Bad weather had be predicted in the lead up to the wedding so I was bracing myself for a wet indoor wedding. My day started at Coombe Lodge and after capturing detail shots of the venue I met up with Shehan who was busy arranging details with his groomsmen, parents and family. Once he was sorted I captured his preparations with his best men, 5 best men in total because each one were equal. Shehan had presents for his best men, a bright pair of socks and hip flasks. Que 8 bottles of liquor to fill up all the flasks. Once everybody was ready they came down stairs and helped each other putting on button holes before having a little walk. Just before guests started to arrive, Anna arrived to finish of final preparations by getting into her dress. Guests started to arrive, take their seats and await the bride and her dad. The wedding was a lovely with a few readings from family and friends.
Today was a special day as there was also going to be a Poruwa Ceremony, the Buddhist blessing would take place about an hour after and another 90 guests were expected to arrive. But before part 2, Interlace Photography captured a few family pictures and personal shots. Anna then went back to her room to get ready in a Sari with Shehan's mum and auntie helping put it on. Shehan greeted guests as they started to arrive and it wasn't long until the blessing. It started with both families coming up the aisle, the traditional order of events followed, the blessing ended with Shehan's mum leading everybody singing 'Jayamangala Gatha'.
After the Poruwa Ceremony guests went into the gardens for a welcome drink and more pictures. The Sun was out and the temperature was warm. I captured the wedding breakfast room details just before everyone took their seats for the wedding breakfast. The speeches followed a lovely meal and one of the best men was a compare, personally I though he was great and a fantastic addition.
Speeches were then made by mum, Shehan and Anna and 2 best men with lots of different stories entertaining the guests.
My evening started by getting special guest messages with the help from a couple of best men. The was a photobooth for guests to enjoy from Enhanced Entertainment. When the party room was ready Shehan and Anna cut their cake and surprised everyone including myself with a first dance with a number of dance moves. Olly from Enhanced Events mixed songs to a packed dance floor allowing me to capture many different shots of guests. Congratulations Shehan and Anna Horton x
